Save Your Vision Month

Every year at this time, the American Optometric Association reminds Americans of all ages about how important regular eye examinations are for maintaining healthy vision and overall good health with its observance of Save Your Vision Month.

This March the AOA introduces an online version of the American Eye-Q® survey, which gives individuals an opportunity to test their knowledge of important eye and vision topics. The campaign also concentrates on the eye and vision health of the Baby Boomer generation-many of whom will turn 60 in 2007. For many, 60 is merely a continuation of previous decades’ productivity and prosperity, not a mark of “turning old.” Many Boomers live vibrant, active lives, yet the 60s are also a time when the risks of age-related vision problems begin to increase.

Thank you for considering this information for an article or feature for your readership. AOA member optometrists are available for interview on the need for regular comprehensive eye exams for all ages, and particularly for Baby Boomers.
